I am originally from upstate New York. I hold a BA from Ithaca College and an MA from The George Washington University. I studied Art History for a semester in Europe and particularly enjoyed my focus on Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and the works of Van Gogh and Matisse. I was an elementary classroom teacher for several years. I have created and taught several art programs, drama clinics, poetry classes and other enrichment classes, clubs and workshops for over 20 years and served as Director of Merritt Academy's Summer Camp and Camp Techno-Kids, both in Fairfax County. I have also tutored students ranging in age from kindergarten to adult.
I have had original teaching ideas published in Mailbox Magazine, three original art pieces published in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, one in Somerset Studio Magazine, and served as a judge for the Sugarman Family Children’s Book Award.
All of my experiences have led me here, to Yellow Brick Road Studio & Enrichment Workshops, through which I use my creativity, lesson-planning skills, rapport with people and huge collection of materials to enrich the lives of others. Enrichment workshops are for kids and adults who want to expand their horizons into subjects such as art, art history, poetry, studio art, creative writing and more. I believe that we all have the capacity inside us to enjoy a variety of creative outlets given the opportunity.

Realism is not my forte, but I occasionally force myself to try it
Courage is not about knowing the path...it is about taking the first step.
I like nothing more than finding cool junk that will eventually find its way into one of my pieces.
