I specialize in mixed-media pieces that celebrate and layer colors, words and nostalgia. I combine my passion for papers, ephemera, images and text. There are samples of my work here and art work for sale here and here.
I am originally from upstate New York. I hold a BA from Ithaca College and an MA fromThe George Washington University. I studied Art History for a semester in Europe and particularly enjoyed my focus on Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and the works of Van Gogh and Matisse. I was an elementary classroom teacher for several years. I have created and taught several art programs, drama clinics, poetry classes and other enrichment classes, clubs and workshops for over 30 years and served as Director of Merritt Academy's Summer Camp and Camp Techno-Kids, both in Fairfax County. I have also tutored students ranging in age from kindergarten to adult.
I have had original teaching ideas published in Mailbox Magazine and original art pieces published in Cloth Paper Scissors Magazine, Somerset Studio Magazine, Art Journaling Magazine, Creative Memories and Rubber Stamp Madness. I was featured on the cover and in a feature story and wrote ten articles for the column "Get Creative with Kerry Molina" in Lifestyle Magazine (Haymarket, VA).
All of my experiences have led me here, to Yellow Brick Road Studio, through which I use my creativity, lesson-planning skills, rapport with people and huge collection of materials to enrich the lives of others. My classes are for kids and adults who want to have more opportunities to let their creativity out to play!
