"In My Book" A Bookmaking Workshop

In this workshop, you will create a special art book. Sometimes called art journals, these books are works of art in their own right.
In the first half of the course, we will do a fabulous technique called gelli plate printing in order to make some of our book pages. We will use a variety of other types of papers to make for more pages. We will disassemble rescued books that were otherwise destined for the landfill. The covers of the old books will be our new covers and we will also use some of the old pages.
After a lunch break, we will assemble the book--you will learn a particular book binding technique. We'll go on to embellish it in an assortment of ways. We will make pockets, flip-outs, belly bands, collages, attachments and tags. You will leave the workshop with a handmade book filled with interesting ephemera and unique, artful pages.
A complete supply list will be provided here soon, but it does include a vintage book to take apart (no bigger than roughly 6 x 8 inches).
